I always ask Lilly about her day. And at pick up today, I thought we would have one of those ordinary, almost-routine conversations… until she almost made me cry 🥲

Me: How was your day?

Lilly: Good

Me: Did you have fun?

Lilly: Yes. But Mommy? I missed you.

Me: Really? Why? What happened?

Lilly: Nothing. I just missed you ‘cause I love you. You know why I love you? You always make time. You pick me and Leo up from school when you can. You drop me off at dance or riding class. You schedule my activities. You plan playdates. When you have work, you rush home to be with us. Even when you have a Zoom meeting and I need something, you nod your head or smile at me. You don’t ignore me. You skip a lot of parties because you choose to stay home with us, especially on the weekends.

Me: Oh wow… thank you for saying that. I didn’t think you noticed things like that!

Lilly: I notice, Mommy. I know.

To all my fellow Moms, doing our best to balance everything, our children notice. THEY KNOW ❤️
